Howle Road
We had a client that required a landscape in which fits within the surrounding rural landscape. This is characterised by mixed farmland, small woodland, hamlets and farmsteads.
The design retains existing trees and hedgerows where layout allows providing a mature element to the gardens . Hedgerows are restored and infilled with matching or suitable species. Gardens are provided with fine grass lawns on their frontages and hard wearing amenity turf to the rear. Ornamental shrubs and ground cover are provided for addition interest. Shurbs are selected according to planting aspect and position within the property to ensure maximum value in terms of immediate and long term amenity.
Existing hedgerow and mature tree habitat is retainedand restored where practical. New planting provides additional stratified habitats suitable for nesting and foraging birds, mammals and invertebrates. These include flowering and fruiting trees and shrubs, high value nectar source species and larval food plants. Native species of trees, shrubs, grasses and bulbs are used within the scheme. Specific consideration to national and local priority and protected hedgehog, song thrush and bumblebees is given in habitat. design (retained and new hedgerows with open bases, ground cover planting and use of leguminous, labiate and heathland species planting.
