The Roseries
The brief was to provide a aesthetically pleasing and functional landscape setting for the new residental development while mitgating for the removal of existing trees and shrubs.
Each dwelling is provided with off road parking, access paths to front and back, rear patio area, lawned amenity space and prnametal planting. The dwellings are accessed via a new tarmacdam driveway leading from st michaels drive and extending along the existing track which follows the north boundary. Existing boundary hedges and trees are retained wherever practicle including oak and sycamore on west boundary. Removed trees and shurbs are fully mitigated for the provistion of robust new planting including 21 diverse native and ornamental new landscape trees, extensive new hedges and ornamental shurb planting with high biodiversity value specimens. The retained hedges are restored with weedspecies control and infilling with mixed native species using locally characteristics species.
Hard surfacing is used to denote functional areas with tegular block paths, block paved parking spaces, tarmacadam shared spaces and natural affect pavers to the rear gardens and paths. A new screen of native trees and shrubs is created at the east end of the site between the new development and grade ii listed st michaels hospital buildings the newly created north boundary verge is provided with a flowering lawn seed mix.
