For All The Family: Inspiring the Next Generation to Love Outdoors

Outdoors is essential to the development and good health of our children. Issues such as childhood obesity, Vitamin D deficiency, mental illhealth and overuse of technology and social media are often in the news and are a significant threat to the health of the next generation. Creating a love of outdoors from an early age leads to a lifetime affinity with it, more active, healthier livestyle and better mental health. So what better than provide an outdoor space that can be used everyday by the whole family?

Creation of a family garden providing space for adults and fun for a young family in a modern elegant garden with pollinator friendly, sensory planting. We were asked by a young professional couple to provide a safe, cost-effective garden that they and their 3 year old daughter could all enjoy. Due to work commitments they expected to be moving within the next few years so both needed to bring the project in within a tight budget and required a design that would be attractive to a broad range of potential buyers. They specifically wanted to retain the natural slope of the garden rather than having terraced sections and the associated trip hazards and drops.

The design we provided included decked areas; a winding block path; splash pool; stepping stones; new lawn; sunken sand pit and bee and butterfly friendly planting. we worked closely with the landscapers to ensure the project was completed within budget and provided everyhting the Client asked for. The planting was provided by ourselves, giving a beautiful finish to the project. The planting was chosen to provide a taste/smell sensory element to the design, to attract bees and butterflies and to be unnatractive to wasps.
